My Notes from the LinkedIn Talk

LinkedIn

Before starting their product redesign they started with cultural change

Consider the following guiding principles

  1. Make your recruiters part of the team
  2. Don’t use gimmicks to attract great talent
  3. Build pride in the company’s brand
  4. Hierarchy and rank are for the military (build a culture of spheres and influence)
  5. Company values are more than a buzz term
  6. Let the team promote rockstars
  7. Quality matters and users notice the difference
  8. Integrate with your product team
  9. Don’t hire clones of yourself, diversity
  10. Move people around, including managers
  11. Promote learning teaching and sharing
  12. Spotlight people’s personal interests (and skills)
  13. Keeping a pulse on the trends in pulp culture
  14. Make user experience a natural behavior
  15. Ensure user experience has a seat at the table

Ratio

1.5 product manager to 1 design to 3 web developer (various from team to team). For mobile products more designers.
